What makes Creta the top seller of India? | MOTORINE

Hyundai launched the Creta in 2015 and continues to be the top seller in India since it's launch.
Creta is currently in it's second generation facelifted avatar launched at the start of 2024 and sold more than 1 lakh units in the starting six months of 2024. Today we shall discuss the reasons behind creta regaining it's top spot in month-on-month sales:-

1. DESIGN

The Hyundai Creta stands out in its segment with a distinctive and bold design that appeals to a wide range of buyers. Its connected DRLs and taillights may come off as polarizing to some, but they add a futuristic and premium touch that many buyers find attractive. Inside, the cabin feels modern and flashy, with a layout and features that elevate the overall driving experience.

2. ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION OPTIONS.

The Hyundai Creta comes with various engine options which are paired to very smooth transmission which deliver an effortless drive in city commutes as well as on highway cruising. In the current version of the Creta there are three engine options which include a 1.5 litre NA petrol engine, 1.5 litre diesel engine and a 1.5 turbo gdi petrol engine.

1.5 Naturally-aspirated MPi petrol engine.

It delivers around 115 HP and 145 Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre petrol engine is available with either a smooth-shifting six-speed manual gearbox or Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), their take on the traditional CVT. It delivers linear, fuss-free performance that’s well-suited for everyday city commutes, though it may feel slightly underpowered during high-speed highway runs. The IVT offers convenience but exhibits a mild “rubber band” effect under hard acceleration. In contrast, the six-speed manual impresses with precise, slick gear changes and a delightfully light, butter-smooth clutch, making it a joy for enthusiasts who enjoy an engaging drive. It also gets paddle shifters which is a good to have feature.

1.5 CRDI diesel engine.

It delivers around 115HP and 250Nm of torque. It has a very good combination of instant torque and fuel efficiency. It is paired to a six speed torque converter gearbox which is very good with shifts but gives a hassle in overtakings. The manual is the best because of it's butter smooth shifts and lesser weight compared to automatic.

 1.5 Turbo GDI petrol engine.

It produces a whopping 157HP AND 250 Nm of torque which is similar to the diesel variant. It is paired to a 7 speed Dual clutch transmission and a six speed manual transmission making it the fastest variant of creta (excluding ev). The DCT is the best gearbox to have as it is blisteringly quick with shifts and does 0-100kmph in around 8.5 seconds. But it fails in terms of fuel efficiency as it gives single digit mileage figures. It is the best Creta suitable for those who enjoy spirited driving.

3. Features

It has been over 1.5 years since the launch of the Mark 2.5 version of the creta but still is quite feature loaded in today's standards. It gets all kinds of safety features and is equipped with coolest features like ventilated seats, dual 10.25 inch display, 6 way power adjustable driver seat, bluelink connected car tech, in-built jio saavn, ADAS level 2 and many more.

It also gets Mercedes inspired 64 coloured ambient lighting.

4. Variants

The Creta comes with many variant options and special variants for sunroof which makes budget buyers also look for Creta. There are also some special editions like the knight edition in which we get blacked out elements, sporty aluminium pedals and all black interior. It also gets N-Line variant which is limited to 1.5 litre Turbo GDI petrol engine. To differentiate from it from the regular Creta it gets different kind of front facia.

KNIGHT EDITION.
                                                                            N-LINE.

                                                                      N-LINE INTERIOR.

5. After sales network.

Hyundai is an old player in Indian market. It has a vast network of sales and services throughout India. The spare parts are easily available and it is easy to repair as it's not as complex as the Germans.
